Best Times of the Year to Go Shopping

One of the many tricks of the retail trade is timing. Once you know the schedule, you can save thousands on everything from clothing to vehicles.
SHOP OFF SEASON
When shopping for apparel, buy from the past or the future season. In the summertime, shop for the winter and in the winter, shop for the summer.
The reason you should shop this way is because, clothing like everything else gets outdated from season to season. Retailers mark down prices right before the new season comes in and right when the current season is on it's way out.
Retailers are trying to get rid of outdated inventory, in order to make room for new inventory. It may feel like an odd practice at first, but once you realize the savings of shopping this way, it may very well become the only way you shop.
SHOP SPECIFIC DAYS
Many retailers have certain days that they put items on sale, based on when the item was initially displayed in the store. Stores like Walmart for example perform their markdowns at the beginning of each month.

SHOP CERTAIN MONTHS OF THE YEAR

If you've ever noticed, at the end of the year, car dealerships start showing commercial after commercial about their end of year sale.
Yes, you do get a discount due to the new inventory coming in, but what you may not know is that the best time to buy a new vehicle is at the end of the year and the end of the month.
The best months to buy are October, November and December. Click here to read more about buying a car, (you will be re-directed to Bankrate).
SHOP THE DAY AFTER A HOLIDAY
A way to save on holidays is to shop the day after. This may not get the best reception from the little kiddies, but once the holiday is over and after everyone has emptied their pockets, retailers are begging customers to buy the rest of what they've got to get rid of before the new year.
The thing about holidays is once it's gone, it's gone until next year. If you're really organized, you can have your shopping done a year in advance, depending on the holiday (I could be wrong, but I don't think anyone wants year old candy).
KEEP AN EAR OUT FOR SALES
This is probably the most popular way to save money, based on the time of your shopping. Sales are announced and broadcast, so it's an easy way to find out when you can get extra savings.
If you're organized, you can pair up coupons with sales and clearance items for even more savings.
IN CONCLUSION
If you plan and know when to buy, you can save thousands of dollars over the course of a year. I hope this article has been helpful, informative and has given you a little more insight on how to keep more in your wallet.
